Best Bourbon Old Fashioned Recipe

– 2 tsp simple syrup (made with turbinado sugar // see notes for method) – 3 dashes Angostura bitters – 3 dashes orange bitters – 1 large ice cube – 2 oz bourbon (we prefer Angel's Envy, Four Roses small batch, or Heaven's Door) – 1 piece orange peel – 1 whole cocktail cherry (we prefer Woodford Reserve or Jack Rudy)

To make simple syrup, mix 2 tablespoons (2 bar spoons) of turbinado sugar with 1 tablespoon (2 bar spoons) of water.

Put in three dashes of Angostura bitters.

Add three drops of orange bitters. Put a big cube of ice in the glass.

Put in two ounces (60 ml) of bourbon. It's best to stir for at least 20 seconds and up to one minute.

Spray an orange peel on the glass to get the grease out of it. After that, twist the peel and put it in the glass.

To make simple syrup, put one part turbinado sugar and one part water in a small pot.
