Fry An Egg

– 1 large egg – 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil or small pat of butter – Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Ingredients

Carefully pour the egg into the skillet and turn the heat down to low.

Let it cook without a lid for about 1 minute. Then, cover it and let it cook until the egg whites are just cooked, which takes about 2 to 3 minutes.

If you want an over easy egg (with the yolk still runny), carefully flip it over and cook for about 15 more seconds. Cook it longer if you prefer over medium or over hard eggs.

Put the cooked egg on a plate and sprinkle some salt and pepper on it to taste.

Put some olive oil in a nonstick or well-seasoned cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Swirl it around to cover the bottom.
