Homemade Alfredo Sauce Recipe

– 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (¾ stick) – ▢1 clove garlic minced – ▢1½ cups heavy cream room temperature – ▢6.4 ounces freshly grated Parmesan cheese – ▢Kosher salt to taste – ▢Ground black pepper to taste – ▢Minced fresh thyme optional

Cook Garlic: Make the butter melt and add the chopped garlic. Stir the garlic every so often to keep it from burning as it cooks until it turns a light brown colour and smells good.

Cool Down: Take the pot off the heat and let it cool for three to five minutes. This will keep the cream from curdling when you add it.

To add cream, pour heavy cream that has been at room temperature into the pot with the butter that has been mixed with garlic.

Bring the pot back to the stove and set it on low heat. Take care not to let the sauce boil; keep it on low heat to keep it from curdling.

Slowly add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture while mixing it all the time. Keep doing this until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Serve: The sauce can be served over pasta, vegetables, or any other food you choose once it's ready and has the right amount of salt and pepper.
