World's Best Lasagna

– 1 pound sweet Italian sausage – ¾ pound lean ground beef – ½ cup minced onion – 2 cloves garlic, crushed – 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes – 2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce – 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste

In a Dutch oven, cook the ground beef, onion, garlic, sausage and smoke until the meat is well cooked.

Add water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and crushed tomatoes and mix them in. Put in pepper, sugar, 2 tablespoons of parsley, basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, Italian spice, fennel seeds, and 2 tablespoons of parsley.

Bring a big pot of water with a little salt to a boil. After the water boils, cook the lasagna noodles for 8 to 10 minutes. Rinse the noodles with cold water after draining them.

Spread ½ cup of meat sauce out in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Lay out 6 noodles lengthwise on top of the meat sauce, making sure they overlap a bit.

Add more layers, and then sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Cover with foil. To keep it from sticking, either spray cooking spray on the foil or make sure it doesn't touch the cheese.

Put it in an oven that is already hot for 25 minutes. Take off the paper and bake for another 25 minutes.
